A life-size sculpture of a human figure curled tightly on its side, knees drawn to the chest, arms wrapped around the shins, face hidden. Carved from white Carrara MARBLE: cool, dense, faintly translucent at the thinnest edges, subtle grey veining. Plain concrete plinth in a bare gallery, even north light

The same curled figure cast in clear GLASS: fully transparent, the far side of the body visible through the near side, internal bubbles and stress lines catching light, sharp caustics thrown onto the plinth beneath. Plain concrete plinth, bare gallery, even north light

The same curled figure built entirely from thin steel WIRE: an open mesh of thousands of wound strands, mostly empty space, the body readable only as a dense lattice of lines, the gallery wall visible straight through it, complex shadows on the floor

The same curled figure built from layered HANJI mulberry PAPER: hundreds of overlapping torn sheets, warm off-white, fibrous edges visible, translucent where the layers thin at the shoulders, slightly crumpled surface. Plain concrete plinth, bare gallery

The same curled figure carved from clear ICE: wet and glistening, already melting, meltwater pooling around the base and running off the plinth edge, internal fractures and frozen bubbles refracting light, edges rounding as it goes

The same curled figure entirely overgrown with living MOSS: a dense green velvet coat following the anatomy, thicker in the hollows and thinner over the shoulder and hip where light reaches, a few tiny ferns rooted at the elbow

The same curled figure cast in raw CONCRETE: heavy, matte grey, the seam line of the mould still visible down the spine, small air voids pocking the surface, one chipped corner at the heel showing aggregate inside

A life-size art sculpture of a clothed human figure in a simple long tunic, curled on its side with knees drawn up, face hidden by the fabric. Modelled in pale WAX: semi-translucent surface with light scattering into the material, visible modelling tool marks and fingerprints, folds sculpted in the wax, one shoulder slightly slumped as if softened by warmth. Plain concrete plinth, bare gallery

The same curled figure formed entirely of SMOKE: grey vapour holding the silhouette, dense enough at the core to read as a body, dissolving into wisps at the extremities where hands and feet trail away into nothing. No solid material anywhere. Hovering just above a plain concrete plinth in a bare gallery
