A life-size sculpture of a human figure curled tightly on its side, knees drawn to the chest, arms wrapped around the shins, face hidden. Simplified smooth sculptural forms with no anatomical detail. The figure lies horizontally on its side ON TOP of the plinth, its long axis parallel to the plinth, one hip and one shoulder resting on the plinth surface, seen from the side like a sleeping person; it is not sitting upright and not kneeling. Covered entirely in tens of thousands of roasted COFFEE BEANS set side by side like scales, the centre crease of each bean visible, dark chocolate brown with an oily sheen on the darkest roasted beans and paler tan beans mixed in, the beans following the curve of the back in neat rows, a few fallen beans and a small drift of papery chaff on the plinth. Rich, warm, slightly glossy. Plain concrete plinth in a bare gallery, even north light. Same pose, same camera angle at plinth height from the side. No text, no letters, no logos.
