A life-size sculpture of a human figure curled tightly on its side, knees drawn to the chest, arms wrapped around the shins, face hidden. Simplified smooth sculptural forms with no anatomical detail. The figure lies horizontally on its side ON TOP of the plinth, its long axis parallel to the plinth, one hip and one shoulder resting on the plinth surface, seen from the side like a sleeping person; it is not sitting upright and not kneeling. The figure is fully clothed in a simple loose sculpted robe. Modelled in clay and FIRED as warm orange-red TERRACOTTA: an even matte earthen surface, a darker smoky flash on one side where the kiln flame touched it, tool marks and thumb marks now frozen hard, a few tiny firing cracks, a dull ring of ash at the base. Solid, finished, unchangeable. Plain concrete plinth in a bare gallery, even north light. Same pose, same camera angle at plinth height from the side. No text, no letters, no logos.
