Rime ice on a mountain ridge: azalea shrubs and a gnarled pine on a windswept Korean mountain ridge, every twig and needle coated in thick white feathery rime that grows in long spiky crystals all pointing in one direction — toward the wind. The windward side of each branch is heavily built up, the sheltered side almost bare. Freezing fog thinning, a pale blue sky breaking through, cold low sun. The rime is opaque white and crystalline, unlike clear glazed ice. No text, no letters anywhere.
