A crowded Korean beach in high summer in the 1990s, seen from a high seawall, shot on saturated slide film with grain: thousands of beach parasols in red, yellow, blue, green and orange packed edge to edge along the sand, rows of bright inflatable rings stacked for rent, swimmers small and blurred in the shallows, a turquoise sea with white breaking waves.
