A shared jangdokdae courtyard for a Korean apartment complex: a sunny terrace garden at the foot of the towers where about sixty glazed brown onggi earthenware jars of different sizes stand in neat rows on low stone platforms, each household's jars grouped together, lids of some lifted to let soy sauce and doenjang breathe in the sun. A low stone wall, a persimmon tree, a woman in a sun hat wiping a jar lid with a cloth. Apartment towers rise behind in soft autumn light. Korean onggi, not Chinese or Japanese pottery. No labels, no lettering anywhere.
