A honeybee swarm clustering on a tree branch: thousands of bees hanging together in a single dense teardrop-shaped mass as big as a rugby ball, the surface of the cluster shimmering and rippling as bees crawl over one another. First 2 seconds: the whole mass slowly swells and contracts as if breathing. Next 2 seconds: a wave of fanning wings travels across the surface from top to bottom. Final second: a few dozen scouts lift off the edge, circle and land back on the mass. No individual bee is followed. The shape of the whole is the subject.
