Close on hands making Korean hanji by the traditional oebal-tteugi method: both hands gripping the wooden frame of a single bamboo screen hung from a cord above a vat of milky dak-fibre pulp. First 2 seconds: the screen dips into the vat and scoops a layer of pulp. Next 2 seconds: the hands swing it side to side so the water sloshes across and drains, a thin even sheet of fibres forming on the bamboo. Final second: a second sweep in the other direction, the wet sheet visibly thickening. Only hands, forearms, screen and vat in frame, no face. Korean hanji making, not Japanese washi or Chinese paper making. Soft daylight from a workshop window, static locked-off camera
