Ink that refuses to diffuse: a white Korean joseon baekja porcelain bowl filled with clear water, seen from a low side angle against a plain pale hanji backdrop. First 2 seconds: a single drop of black meok ink falls from a brush tip into the water and, instead of blooming into clouds, stays a perfect glossy black sphere the size of a pea. Next 2 seconds: the sphere sinks slowly and bounces off the bottom of the bowl like a tiny rubber ball. Final second: it comes to rest on the bottom, still perfectly round, the water around it completely clear. The bowl and the water surface are still. Soft diffused daylight, macro, static locked-off camera. Korean porcelain, not Chinese or Japanese ceramics. No text, no letters
